Land & utility surveys to help design new road layout.
Our client AECOM has been working with Homes England at Brookleigh; a multi-million pound residential master planned estate in West Sussex. AECOM were commissioned to produce a detailed design of the central section of the main spine road that connects the estate from east to west. Survey Solutions were asked to complete land surveys and utilities surveys of the 2km stretch of highway.
The utilities survey was required to understand where local constraints and utilities lay so the most effective design of the new road layout could be completed. A topographical and utilities survey of the corridor for a proposed footpath was also required. This was to help identify potential ecological and topographical constraints that could hinder design and to support ongoing discussions with the local council.
With the roundabout south of the area being one of the most congested and complained about junctions in the area, we worked closely with AECOM, West Sussex Council and a traffic management partner to devise a traffic management solution that avoided road closures.
To meet the project’s tight deadlines, we utilised resources from across our offices ensuring we doubled the survey capacity and fed this incrementally into AECOM ensuring they could advance their design work concurrently.
